“Black Water”

In "Black Water," Namor, the Sub-Mariner, faces a crisis unlike any before as a terrorist bombing at an Oracle Inc. gala sends a super tanker into chaos, unleashing a torrent of oil that threatens to suffocate him beneath the waves. With Carrie Alexander on the verge of leaving him, Namor must fight not only the spreading pollution but the rising tide of personal doubt. Written and illustrated by John Byrne, this 1990 issue delivers a tense, atmospheric dive into Namor’s world, with cover art by Byrne capturing the oil-slicked drama in stark, dramatic detail.
