The S-64 disintegrator gun allows Earth troops to colonize and contain other worlds with ease. But the name of the inventor has been completely forgotten. In 2219 Mark Saunders left Earth for Venus, and the next five years were spent developing his disintegrator ray. After scores of failures the gun is finally a success. Returning to Earth he attempts to interest manufacturers in its mass production, but they are offered similar inventions every week and none of them have ever worked.
