“Interlude”

In "Interlude," Nodoka’s collapse leads Manami to introduce them to Mikamo Hanamura, the real person behind the beloved online persona Yorumun the Mermaid. Once a source of comfort and guidance, Hanamura stepped away after a terminal illness made continued presence impossible—now, a mysterious spirit may be carrying on the legacy in ways that go beyond mere inspiration. With Nujima, Deniz Amasya, and Molly Tanzer writing and Nujima handling art and inks, this issue blends quiet intimacy with rising unease, while Nujima’s cover captures the haunting beauty of the moment.

After Nodoka lands in the hospital for exhaustion, Manami introduces them to Mikamo Hanamura. Hanamura created the online persona of Yorumun the Mermaid and dispensed encouragement and advice until she was forced to retire due to a terminal illness. Ren theorizes that a mystical spirit has assumed the Yorumun identity and is going too far in influencing viewers.
