Sheila comes from an impoverished background and dislikes her job in a dime-a-dance joint. When wealthy Jimmy and some friends come in, she recognises him and decides he’s her ticket out of this life. They date and Jimmy falls for her. Jimmy’s older brother Keith tries to dissuade Sheila, even offers to pay her off, but she refuses. Sheila’s actually in love with Keith, and when she tears up the check he offers, he realises he loves her too.
