The penultimate energy of this 2001 Marvel series finale is on full display as the cover by Michael Golden shows the series' lead — clad in a dark blue and gold X-buckled suit — reaching out desperately amid an explosive burst of psychedelic pink, red, and yellow light. With a story titled "The End" and the creative team of Howard Mackie, Ron Lim, and Andrew Pepoy behind the interior pages, this issue clearly promises a high-stakes conclusion to the alternate-reality adventures that defined Mutant X.
