Ms. Marvel #24
In "Monster and Marvel Part 4," Carol Danvers, wielding her Binary powers once more, joins forces with the Lightning Storm to battle the Brood, only to face a devastating power drain at the moment of truth. As the Brood Queen strikes down Cru, who returns whole and unharmed, Carol makes a desperate move—taking the queen into space and destroying her. Back on Earth, the team barely has time to catch their breath before news of the Skrull invasion breaks, and a chilling revelation from Tony Stark sends shockwaves through their ranks: someone within Lightning Storm is an imposter—and that someone might be Ms. Marvel herself. Written by Brian Reed and illustrated by Aaron Lopresti, with inks by Matt Ryan, colors by Chris Sotomayor, and letters by Dave Sharpe, the issue’s cover by Greg Horn captures the moment’s high stakes with sharp, dramatic precision.

Carol once again has her Binary powers as she fights alongside her Lightning Storm allies against the Brood. Her cosmic powers burn out just as she gets down to confronting the Brood Queen. Cru arrives on the scene, once again whole, just in time for the Brood Queen to kill her. Ms. Marvel takes the Brood Queen into space and blows her up. Carol and her allies return to their somewhat normal lives just in time to learn of the Skrull invasion. The only problem is that Tony Stark lets Agent Sum know that Lightning Storm has a Skrull impersonator in their midst: Ms. Marvel herself.
