When Cru reappears and bonds with Carol, the two are suddenly transported to the mysterious Monster Isle, where the real danger begins. Written by Brian Reed and illustrated by Aaron Lopresti, with inks by Matt Ryan, colors by Chris Sotomayor, and letters by Dave Sharpe, the issue’s cover by Greg Horn captures the eerie tension of a showdown that’s as personal as it is perilous.

Ms. Marvel faces her old foe, Cru, whom she believed to be dead. Machine Man and Sum try to drive Cru off but things take a strange turn when Cru links up with Ms. Marvel and transports her to Monster Isle. It turns out that Cru is an alien woman who left part of herself in Carol's bloodstream during their last conflict. This explains why Carol keeps turning blue and healing in times of stress. As Cru tries to extract the part of herself she left in Carol, the Brood arrive on the scene.
