Mr. District Attorney #35

Straight from the era when Mr. District Attorney was a household name on TV and radio, this September–October 1953 DC issue spotlights the feature story "This Crime for Hire!" right on its cover by Win Mortimer. The scene is a brazen criminal supply shop, where a smirking, bald proprietor dares a gun-toting customer to fire at him — boasting his bullet-proof vests are guaranteed — while a second crook coolly orders up four vests, an armored car, three tommy-guns, and, yes, a box of hand grenades sitting right on the counter. It's a wonderfully pulpy setup that captures crime-comics storytelling at its most inventive, with interior art handled by Howard Purcell and Charles Paris.
