“The Slave of the Wonderful Lamp”

A roguish band of buccaneers crowds around an open treasure chest on a sandy shore in this cheerful 1947 DC adventure, with the rotund, scowling Cap'n Blah and his motley crew looming over young Jimminy as he peers wide-eyed at whatever riches lie within. Howard Post's lively cover art sets up a swashbuckling pirate yarn with a wonderfully cartoonish energy — skulls-and-crossbones hat, pickaxe-wielding deckhand, a tall ship anchored in the distance, and scattered gold all included. At ten cents for 52 pages, this is a genuinely entertaining slice of postwar all-ages comics fun.
