Few sights in 2013 Marvel comics are as unsettling as this cover by David López — Morbius, the Living Vampire, crawls toward the viewer with glowing red eyes and blackened nails, while Spider-Man clings to the ceiling directly above him in a tight, claustrophobic corridor. The composition puts you right in the path of both predator and hero, and the tension between the two figures is palpable without a single word of dialogue. Writer Joe Keatinge and artist Valentine De Landro's series was clearly willing to put Morbius in some genuinely dark corners, and this issue promises more of that unsettling energy.
