Monte Hale Western #65

In "Dead Man's Rendezvous," Monte Hale and Sheriff work to stop the Gleagson gang, who are hiding in a bat cave in high country. When lawmen attempt to creep up on the outlaws' position, they find themselves pinned down with no way through the outlaws' gunfire. Monte and the Sheriff pursue the gang toward the Rio Ventero, learning the outlaws plan to cross the river at night using a railroad to escape with stolen cattle. Monte and the Sheriff intercept a played-out mine note revealing that the outlaws—Jeff Baxley, Tim Riggs, and Curly—are using the scheme to pay off a debt, ultimately capturing the gang.
