Monte Hale Western #56

In the main story "Monte Hale and the Night Riders of the Osage," Monte Hale is supposedly killed by the Night Riders gang, but he is actually rescued by an Indian guide who brings him to safety. Monte recovers from his injuries and reveals his survival to those who had given him up for dead, helping to defeat the outlaw gang that had terrorized Osage Valley. The issue also includes a Gabby Hayes story featuring the comedic cowboy character in a lighthearted adventure involving his misadventures with food and age-related mishaps.
