Monte Hale Western #48

Monte Hale encounters bandits planning to steal gold during a traveling circus performance and take a child hostage. When the outlaws attempt their scheme at the circus, Monte pursues them across the desert. Meanwhile, in a separate story, Gray Hawk, a young Otapi warrior, uses his wits and knowledge of superstition to frighten away enemy Hatchet warriors who threaten his village, convincing them that the People of the Otapi are protected by a spirit mightier than theirs.
