The fifth issue of Jeff Lemire's Minor Arcana from Boom! Studios arrives with a quietly unsettling cover — a dark-haired woman in a trench coat strides forward with a troubled, inward expression while a white-bearded older man looms behind her against a rose-washed, stormy sky over open water. Lemire's watercolor-inflected linework gives the whole image a haunted, wind-swept atmosphere that suits a story subtitled "The Ballad of Budd St. Pierre: 1976" perfectly. With Lemire handling every aspect of the interior art and Steve Wands on letters, this is as close to a singular creative vision as 2025 comics publishing offers.
