Mind MGMT: Bootleg #3

David Rubín's cover for Mind MGMT: Bootleg #3 is a wonderfully disorienting piece of design work — the title lettering itself becomes a labyrinthine maze through which several young characters scramble, dodge, and tumble, while an enormous grinning bearded figure looms over it all. A ghost-like skull, a green lizard, a deer, a dolphin, and a flock of tiny yellow chicks populate the chaos alongside the determined and wide-eyed kids navigating the structure's twisting corridors. Matt Kindt and Rubín are clearly having a grand time warping perception and scale in this 2022 Dark Horse series that wears its strangeness with a big, toothy smile.
