Matt Kindt's Mind MGMT continues to be one of the most quietly inventive series in comics, and this cover is a perfect example of why. Against a warm watercolor wash, a young woman floats in a languid, almost weightless pose — holding what the hand-lettered caption pointedly declares "This is a pipe" — a sly nod to Magritte's famous meditation on perception and representation. It's a cover that wears its themes on its sleeve: in a series built on manipulation and the slipperiness of truth, even the image itself invites you to question what you're really looking at.
