Millie the Model Comics #61

Dan DeCarlo's sun-drenched cover says it all — Millie strides confidently out of the surf in her polka-dot swimsuit while a crowd of competing lifeguards scrambles and bickers over who gets the honor of "saving" her next. The speech bubbles ("Ready or not… here I go!" / "It's MY turn to save her today, Joe!") perfectly capture the breezy, good-natured humor that made Atlas Comics' "Blonde Bombshell" a delight in 1955. If you're in the mood for all-new laughs with a heroine who clearly doesn't need rescuing, this is a great place to dive in.
