With Thorr’s new society built on geothermal power and metalworking, Samson must survive a brutal trial by plank—only to face a far greater challenge when his courage is tested in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge. Written by Otto Binder and illustrated with bold precision by Frank Thorne, this 1965 Western Comics classic features a striking cover by George Wilson.
In "The Metal Stealers [Part 1]," Thorr and his raiders descend on the ruined Statue of Liberty in N'Yark, seizing scrap metal before abducting Sharmaine and Mindor to a hidden society in Greenland. There, melting ice has revealed a thriving underground civilization powered by geothermal energy and fueled by metalwork, where Thorr demands Mindor’s genius and seeks to crown Sharmaine as his queen. As Samson slips aboard one of Thorr’s ships in secret, his plan to intervene is quickly exposed—leaving him stranded on the edge of the icy sea.
In "The Metal Stealers, Part 2: Sinister Stronghold," Samson finds himself trapped in a brutal gladiatorial arena beneath the ice of Greenland, fighting monstrous foes to free Sharmaine—only to face betrayal when Thorr refuses to honor the terms. With the stakes rising, Mindor ignites a rebellion that forces a reckoning, leading to Thorr’s final stand and a fragile peace between Greenland and N'Yark.
