Dr. Pitt uses ancient vehicles to get the group to the toxic leak site, and helps them find radioactive waste to neutralize it. When he tries to make his getaway by helicopter the suspicious Sharmaine, who has stowed away, stops him. When he's injured by being thrown from the helicopter in a struggle, he agrees to release the radioactive materials into the flame, ending the threat and dooming himself. He will finally face the death he evaded centuries before.
