The Boom! Studios Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series was announced in June 2015 through a partnership between Boom! Studios and Saban Brands, with Kyle Higgins installed as lead writer and Hendry Prasetya as primary artist. Issue #3 lands at a point when the creative team was still building out its dual-feature structure — a serious main story alongside lighter backup strips — and represents the opening arc at full momentum before the Black Dragon's debut in the very next issue raised the stakes across the entire run. Steve Orlando scripted the Bulk and Skull backup installment, with Corin Howell on art for that feature.
