“Die Kohldampf-Insel”

In "Die Kohldampf-Insel," Scrooge McDuck sets sail on a peculiar quest—both to rid himself of gold dust clogging his pores and to investigate a distress call found in a bottle. Arriving on a remote island, he and the ducks uncover a strange ray that petrifies living things, complicating their mission. Written by Carl Barks and Erika Fuchs, with art and inks by Carl Barks, this 1955 classic features the iconic creator’s signature blend of whimsy and suspense, all captured in a cover by Barks himself.

Scrooge takes a sea voyage so that the wind can clean out the gold dust that's clogging his pores and making him feel tired, and also to answer a plea for help that turns up in a bottle on the beach. When the ducks arrive at the island from which the message was sent, they find the Beagle Boys and a mysterious ray that turns living things into stone.
