IDW's official Konami comic adaptation continues with issue #2, its cover painted entirely by Ashley Wood — a rain-soaked, hat-wearing figure leveling a revolver directly at the viewer while clutching a lit object in the other hand, rendered in moody blues and earthy tones that feel more fine art than funnybook. Wood's loose, gestural brushwork gives the image a cinematic tension that perfectly suits the "Tactical Espionage Action" subtitle splashed across the top. For fans of the game franchise and painted sequential art alike, this 2004 IDW release is a genuinely compelling piece of work.
