Messara #3

The third volume of Messara arrives with a striking cover by Jacques Terpant — a close-up portrait of a dark-haired young woman in studded leather armor, arms outstretched against a hazy blue sky and distant cliffs, her expression resolute and almost defiant. The subtitle "De vleugels van Icarus" (The Wings of Icarus) hints at themes of ambition and flight woven through this Bonifay-and-Terpant collaboration. Terpant's richly rendered linework and warm coloring give the 2021 album an immediately compelling visual presence.
