Men's Adventures #22

From Atlas Comics' horror-tinged era, this June 1953 issue of Men's Adventures features a Bill Everett cover that sets an unsettling scene: a grotesque, green-skinned creature rises menacingly from an open coffin in what appears to be a candlelit funeral parlor, while a skeleton lies on the floor nearby and a hand reaches in from the doorway. The left side of the cover teases three stories inside — "The Mark of the Witch!," "Deadline," and "Beware the Chair!" — promising a full evening of eerie thrills. Stan Lee and John Romita bring one of those tales to life within, making this a genuinely interesting snapshot of early-'50s Atlas horror anthologies.
