This issue contains two Maverick Marshal stories. In "The Desperate Outlaw," Marshal Maverick must stop a dangerous criminal who has stolen dynamite. In "The Pigeon," Maverick carries a warrant for a swindler named Jubal Briggs and travels to Silver City, where he encounters Landis Briggs and discovers that a civic leader has been ruling the town with an iron hand. In "The Return of Sandy Runnels," Sandy Runnels returns to Sageville after six years in state prison, claiming to have reformed, but Marshal Maverick grows suspicious when Runnels and his gang begin plotting new crimes, forcing the marshal to take action.

The Maverick Marshal must navigate a town ruled by violence and corruption to separate the truth from an elaborate frame-up.

The Return of Sandy Runnels
