Maverick Marshal
Maverick Marshal is a Western lawman hero who patrols the frontier, maintaining order in the rough-and-tumble world of the American West. A scrappy, self-reliant figure, he represents the classic Silver Age Charlton Comics take on the cowboy hero.
Riding straight out of the Silver Age, Maverick Marshal burst onto the scene in 1958 courtesy of the prolific Charlton Comics duo Joe Gill and Charles Nicholas — a scrappy Western hero who carved out his own corner of the frontier alongside the likes of Mark Stone. Though his run was brief, spanning just a couple of years under Charlton's banner, he's the kind of cult Western figure that dedicated collectors love to track down, and his appearances have found new life through Gwandanaland Comics reprints. A lean but genuine slice of late-'50s Western comics, Maverick Marshal is a satisfying find for anyone with a soft spot for the genre's Silver Age heyday.
