The issue contains two stories: "Apache Vengeance!" in which the Masked Ranger, pursued by Apache warriors for three days across the desert, evades capture by taking refuge in a cave after using his horse's speed and a lariat to escape a cliff ambush, ultimately reaching safety when a cavalry bugle signals the Indians' departure. The second story, "Jim Bowie," depicts the frontiersman Jim Bowie delirious with fever and haunted by memories of hunting his brother's killer, as he struggles through the wilderness pursued by a mountain lion while wrestling with visions of death and survival.
