“The More Things Change...”

In "The More Things Change...", a newly merged Hulk and Banner struggle for control within the same body, trapped at Gamma Base as their conflicting selves battle for dominance. With the Hulk forced to restrain Banner from self-destruction, a desperate escape leads to a shocking plunge into Samson's nutrient bath—only for Ross's interference to send Rick tumbling in, and the Hulk to emerge, briefly, as a grey form before reverting to Banner. Written by Al Milgrom and illustrated by Al Milgrom, with inks by Dennis Janke, colors by George Roussos, and letters by Rick Parker, this 2019 Marvel Tales issue features a striking cover by Jen Bartel and Dale Keown, with inks by Bartel and Bob McLeod.

With the Hulk and Banner merged once again, he is restrained at Gamma Base as he continues to switch from one to the other. Banner tries to emerge from the Hulk's chest and kill himself while the jade giant is forced to protect him. The Hulk escapes from his restraints and is chased toward Samson's nutrient bath. Ross tries to monkey with the equipment being used to cure Banner of the Hulk and, when Rick intervenes, Ross knocks him into the bath. The Hulk is submerged in the same tank and busts out of the side as the grey version of the Hulk but he quickly reverts to Banner.
