“Where Crawls the Lizard!”

Marvel Tales #184 brings back one of Spider-Man's most unsettling foes in "Where Crawls the Lizard!" — and the cover by John Romita captures the tension beautifully, with Spider-Man lunging downward through a dark stone tunnel toward the green-scaled, lab-coat-clad Lizard, whose reptilian tail curls menacingly across the shadowy floor. The confrontation feels genuinely dangerous, set against that stark black background with Spidey in full acrobatic form and the Lizard poised to strike. Stan Lee's script and Romita's interior art make this 1986 reprint a fine way to revisit a genuinely compelling early Marvel adventure.
