Spider-Man looks anything but in control on this striking 1984 cover, as he lunges through an indoor setting while the winged, green-and-white Vulture swoops in from above and a pale, hulking figure looms to his left — all beneath the ominous headline "Spider-Man Goes Mad!" Steve Ditko's cover art crackles with kinetic energy, capturing three figures in dynamic collision with the clean, expressive linework that defined his approach to Marvel's wall-crawler. Reprinting Stan Lee and Steve Ditko's story of the same name, Marvel Tales #162 is a fine showcase of one of comics' most celebrated creative partnerships.
