“Ice and Hellfire!”

Marvel Spotlight #14 brings the Son of Satan face-to-face with frozen terrors straight out of the pit, as teased by the cover's bold tagline: "Night of the Ice Demon!" Ron Wilson's pencils and John Romita's inks deliver a striking scene of Daimon Hellstrom — trident raised and pentagram blazing on his chest — charging forward alongside a fleeing woman while hulking ice-shrouded demons loom and claw at them from all sides. For just twenty cents in 1974, this issue pairs Steve Gerber's writing with Jim Mooney's interior art for what looks to be a chillingly atmospheric chapter in one of Marvel's more daring supernatural series.
