About this Collection

This volume collects Daredevil #22-32 and #7 (1965), featuring the early adventures of Matt Murdock as he battles foes like the Gladiator and the Masked Marauder. Written by Stan Lee with art by Wally Wood, John Romita Sr., and others, these issues showcase the Man Without Fear's transition into more complex storytelling and his deepening rivalry with the Kingpin.

In "The Tri-Man Lives!", Daredevil is thrust into a high-stakes game of survival when the Marauder traps him and Gladiator in a deadly scheme involving the mysterious Tri-Man. With Gene Colan’s moody art and Frank Giacoia’s dynamic inks bringing the shadowy world to life, the story unfolds in a surreal Roman Coliseum set where enemies become unlikely allies. The cover by Colan and Giacoia captures the tension perfectly—this is Daredevil at his most relentless, fighting not just for survival, but for a moment of unexpected humanity.

The Marauder transports Daredevil and Gladiator back to his base in hopes of using Hornhead to help power his Tri-Man. When this plan fails, he transports them both to a movie set of the Roman Coliseum in Europe where all the Maggia heads are meeting. Daredevil and Gladiator fight it out in the arena until a caged lion gets loose and Daredevil ends up saving his foe's life. Gladiator refuses to fight after this and gets a job with the Maggia and Daredevil walks away.
