In "El Ataúd," Mary Jane waits anxiously for Peter to return, unaware that Kraven has drugged him and buried him alive. Donning Spider-Man’s suit, Kraven prepares to take on the role of the Web-Slinger, while Vermin prowls the city’s underbelly, hunting for prey. When Mary Jane provokes a pair of street thugs, she’s rescued by a brutal, unfamiliar Spider-Man—certainly not the man she loves. Written by J. M. De Matteis and illustrated by Mike Zeck with inks by Bob McLeod and colors by Janet Jackson, this tense, atmospheric tale unfolds under a cover by Todd McFarlane.
