This collection presents the first appearance of Jim Starlin's cosmic anti-hero Dreadstar, originally released as a standalone Marvel Graphic Novel in 1982. The story introduces Vanth Dreadstar, the sole survivor of a destroyed galaxy, who is drawn into a war between the oppressive empires of the Instrumentality and the Church of the Book. Starlin's signature blend of space opera, philosophical conflict, and dynamic artwork marks the beginning of the Dreadstar saga, which later continued in its own ongoing series from Epic Comics.
