Marvel Adventures Spider-Man #19
Few sights in 2006 comics could top Spider-Man dangling helplessly inside the gaping jaws of a massive winged dragon-creature, city skyscrapers visible far below — and cover artist Cameron Stewart renders that stomach-dropping moment with real wit and flair. The sheer scale of the beast, its horned head and leathery wings dominating the entire image, makes our wall-crawling hero look wonderfully small and very much in trouble. Peter David and Mike Norton bring their all-ages sensibility to this one, promising the kind of imaginative, energetic fun that made the Marvel Adventures line such a treat for readers of every age.
