Volume 32 of the beloved Franco-Belgian series brings the Marsupilami to sun-scorched desert terrain for "Bienvenido a Bingo," and Batem's cover sets the tone perfectly: the spotted, long-tailed creature sprints in a frenzy of sweat and wide eyes toward a small child in a striped shirt, while a lone bird circles lazily beneath a blazing white sun. The arid landscape — sparse cacti, cracked earth, distant telegraph poles — gives the whole scene a wonderfully absurd fish-out-of-water energy that fans of Franquin's creation will find immediately charming. Writer Stéphane Colman and artist Batem deliver their signature mix of slapstick warmth in this 2019 entry from Marsu Productions.
