Marmaduke Mouse encounters Frowsy the cat, who convinces him to help move a ladder and carry tar paper up to a building, claiming they're going to a party. After Marmaduke discovers the deception and attempts to escape, he encounters Billy Badger in a cave, who claims to be "the Terrible Voice of the Mountain" but is revealed to be just an ordinary badger living in an inherited cave. Later, Marmaduke meets a blonde female mouse in a parlor who mistakes him for someone powerful and strong, revealing she is a Black Widow in disguise—leading to a comedic confrontation when her true identity is discovered.
