After a brief sales outing, Nutty encounters Tuffy and boasts about his new job and plans to use his earnings to buy college, but when Tuffy warns him the work might be too tough, Nutty insists he can handle it. The story concludes with Nutty getting into a skiing accident that leaves him bandaged and injured, at which point Tuffy expresses sympathy while reminding Nutty that he had warned him about the difficulty of the job. Additionally, the issue contains a brief gag story involving a character receiving a "dribble glass" as a gift, which causes chaotic results when the recipient spills water on an uncle's new jacket.
Nutty Squirrel lands a job selling magazines to fund his education, but his enthusiasm quickly runs into a wall of resistance from a skeptical customer who won’t commit to even a short subscription. Meanwhile, Harry the Horse is stuck shoveling snow in the bitter cold, until a sudden idea leads him to build a homemade snow-plow that quickly spirals out of control.
Marmaduke Monk insists he needs nothing from the store—no toothpaste, no razor blades, not even skin tonic—until the clerk points out he’s never used toothpaste at all. Confused by the idea, Marmaduke dismisses it, confident his teeth are fine without it.
A young fish named Sal and his friend Hal grow restless in their quiet pond, dreaming of adventure beyond their familiar waters. When they follow a mysterious rumble downstream, they discover a vast, wondrous pool—only to narrowly escape a deadly trap and a menacing predator who claims to be the fearsome Barry CUDA.
