The story concludes with Nutty admitting he is not as tough as he claimed, while his concerned associates wonder if he will recover from his fall.
Nutty Squirrel answers a want ad for a magazine salesman, excited to earn money for pecan nuts and work his way through college. He makes his first sales call, only to be met with increasingly absurd refusals—until a grumpy horse named Harry the Horse forces him into shoveling snow, turning his dream job into a comically relentless chore.
Marmaduke Monk is surprised when a shopkeeper offers him a variety of personal care items, but he insists he doesn’t need any of them—especially toothpaste, which he dismisses as unnecessary since his teeth aren’t loose. The clerk’s disbelief grows as Marmaduke stands firm, refusing to admit he might ever need such things.
A young fish named Sal and his friend Hal grow restless in their quiet pond and decide to explore the stream beyond, lured by tales of a vast, wonderful pool. Their journey takes a sudden turn when they narrowly escape a waterfall and face a terrifying predator, only to discover the danger was a trick played by a cunning creature who mimics a sea monster.
