Marines in Battle #11

This April 1956 Atlas war anthology puts Iron-Mike McGraw front and center on a John Severin cover that crackles with forward momentum — a helmeted Marine charging hard with rifle raised as enemy soldiers scatter and tumble on all sides around him. Severin's linework captures both the chaos of close-quarters combat and McGraw's sheer unstoppable drive, making the cover's boast — "Watch Iron-Mike McGraw as he throws back the Commies!" — feel entirely earned. Ten cents bought a lot of battlefield tension in 1956, and this issue's "All New Adventures" banner promises plenty more where that came from.
