When four battle-worn Marines and a shell-shocked lieutenant are shipped out of Guadalcanal together, they find themselves bound for Australia with nothing but time and resentment—and the officer's sudden breakdown has branded him a coward in their eyes. As the journey unfolds, these unlikely misfits must contend with their wounds, their prejudices, and the question of what it really means to break under fire.

Sgt. Benny Boondocks and Lt. Ax Asgood, a formidable Marine team, both wake from the same nightmare: visions of their deaths in combat on a frozen Korean hillside. When orders come to assault the hill held by Chinese forces, the two veterans face an agonizing choice—fight knowing what they've foreseen, or sit back and risk their men. As the assault begins with air support and heavy fire, their shared dream begins to unfold exactly as they feared it would.

At Iwo Jima in 1945, a wounded Marine finds himself alone guarding a cave packed with Japanese soldiers determined to break out and overrun the hospital area behind him. Left with only grenades and his rifle, he makes a desperate stand against impossible odds, knowing reinforcements may never arrive. By sheer will and defiance, he holds the line—though the cost of survival proves almost as brutal as the battle itself.
