“Breakaway Girl”

In "Breakaway Girl," Ann takes a bold leap when she stows away on Terry's lorry, knowing he’ll pass Oldstone Castle where she’s taken a new job as a nanny. With the lorry stranded in a snowstorm, she and Terry brave the treacherous climb through the blizzard to reach the isolated estate, where they find the family trapped and cut off. That night, Old Ted offers Ann shelter and shares a chilling tale of a ghost said to haunt the castle’s halls. Art by Richard Neillands brings the icy dread and quiet mystery of the setting to life in this 1959 tale from Amalgamated Press.
