Marc Spector: Moon Knight #40

History

Terry Kavanagh assumed writing duties on the series with issue #35 and steered it through its final issue (#60), making him the book's longest-tenured writer of the volume. Gary Kwapisz joined as penciler beginning with issue #39, so #40 represents only his second issue on the title; Tom Palmer, a veteran Marvel inker, continued from the preceding arc to provide consistency in the finished linework. The issue was edited by Joey Cavalieri under editor-in-chief Tom DeFalco, during a period when Marvel was aggressively retooling mid-tier solo titles with darker, gadget-heavy aesthetics — a context that explains the conspicuous addition of body armor and what reviewers noted was a heavy reliance on adamantium-enhanced equipment throughout the arc.
