From the creative team of Chris Dingess and Matthew Roberts, this 2014 Image series continues its wild reimagining of the Lewis and Clark expedition through monster-haunted American wilderness. The cover pulls the eye into a dense, rocky gorge of towering pines and stone cliffs, where a shirtless figure tumbles through the air, clutching what appears to be a rifle — a gut-dropping moment of peril framed against the lush green landscape. At the left edge, a covered wagon flies a tattered early American flag, grounding the scene in its frontier setting and hinting that things have gone very wrong for the expedition.
