“Heads in the Sand”

"Heads in the Sand" kicks off Maniac of New York #1 with a chilling pulse, set four years after a horrific massacre in Times Square. As New York pushes forward with its first fully automated subway, the city’s last-ditch task force—Gina and Zelda—faces a new nightmare when the elusive Maniac Harry boards the train with 222 passengers. Written by Elliott Kalan and brought to life with bold, immersive art by Andrea Mutti (pencils, inks, colors), this issue blends urban dread with high-stakes tension, all framed by Mutti’s striking cover.

It has been four years since the initial slaughter of 79 victims in New York's Times Square, and Harry the Maniac still remains on the loose. Gina and Zelda are the only full-time members of the city's disgruntled task force dedicated to stopping the menace who has now racked up a body count of 493. The mayor who will be up for re-election soon needs life to go on and launches a heavy media campaign promoting the debut of the city's first fully automated (driverless) subway train. Maniac Harry decides to take a ride himself on this new train with 222 other passengers.
