Major Bummer #4
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeDoug Mahnke's cover for this November 1997 DC series captures the cheerfully absurd spirit of Major Bummer perfectly: a massively built guy in an ice cream parlor uniform leans across the counter, offering a towering multi-scoop cone to a woman in a purple bodysuit — all while tiny red toothy creatures swarm chaotically around them and a disembodied head floats ominously in the background. It's the kind of image that tells you immediately this book doesn't take itself too seriously, pairing superhero mayhem with everyday mundanity to genuinely funny effect. John Arcudi and Mahnke were cooking up something wonderfully strange with this series, and issue #4 — "Ah Choo!" — looks like no exception.
