In "Lokkedue," Mark Hazzard takes on a dangerous mission to smuggle stinger missiles to Afghan rebels, flying a decoy route over the Persian Gulf with pilot Ritter. As the weapons are transported across land by Mal Rossi and the mysterious Lincoln Griffin, Hazzard and Ritter are betrayed and captured by Iranian forces, who execute Ritter upon discovering their true role in the operation.

In "Gjengjeldelsen," Mark Hazzard, freed from an Iranian prison by his mercenary allies, sets out to uncover the traitor who betrayed him. With the help of Lincoln Griffin, he tracks down Henri Graymalkin, only to learn that the man responsible for his capture was Joan’s husband, Gordon. Hazzard confronts Gordon, leading to a tense and deadly showdown that leaves the outcome hanging in the balance.
