Magneto #4
Kelley Jones's striking cover for Magneto #4 splits the composition dramatically down the middle — on one side, a caped, helmeted Magneto stands with his back turned and fist clenched, while on the other, a silver-haired figure in a blue-and-yellow costume surges upward in a burst of energy. The tagline "A New Beginning" sets a charged, transitional tone perfectly suited to the "Spectres" story within, courtesy of writers Peter Milligan and Jorge González. This February 1997 Marvel X-Men title delivers exactly the kind of duality — brooding menace against radiant possibility — that makes Magneto such a compelling figure.
