Magneto stands at the center of this striking 2014 Marvel cover, arms outstretched as a storm of shredded metal and debris radiates outward around him — a vivid display of his magnetic dominance rendered in bold red and black by cover artist Declan Shalvey. The dark, tactical costuming gives the Master of Magnetism a grounded, almost ruthless presence, a far cry from the regal purples of earlier eras. With Cullen Bunn writing and the art team of Gabriel Hernández Walta and Jordie Bellaire handling interiors, this series was already showing real edge by its third issue.
