Mad #413
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeAlfred E. Neuman peers over the top of a mock newspaper — "The Potrzebie Dispatch" — whose bold headline promises "The 20 Dumbest People, Events and Things of 2001," and the cover art by Roberto Parada renders the gag with slick, almost photorealistic detail. Smaller headlines visible on the paper skewer Michael Jordan's NBA return, China's Olympic bid, celebrity rehab stints, Sean "P. Diddy" Combs' name changes, and an Eminem/Elton John Grammys pairing, giving the whole cover the feel of a year-in-review roast. MAD #413 is a sharp 2002 time capsule of cultural absurdity, wrapped in one of the magazine's most enjoyably deadpan visual conceits.
